My mom has a big butt

...and so, apparently, do I, as painfully brought to my attention yesterday while tubing at Harper's Ferry and the subsequent pernicious crashing into the legions of rocks. Next time we use Butt's Tubes, I'm upgrading to the big cushy orange tube. And I'll wear more sunscreen than I did. Lots more. But I think in general, the next water-esque activity I undertake shall involve oars. I sort of like being able to control the direction I take, as opposed to the wanton destruction of body parts...

Fireworks on the Mall...is there any better way to see them? With the Marine Band playing patriotic songs in the background (and a random Copland's Rodeo thrown in...) and the crush of U.S. citizens all out to pay homage, rain, deluge or no. Just make sure to take the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stop instead of the Archives/Navy Memorial. It's worth the five minute walk to save the 2 hour wait in line, trust me.

I'm off to pay homage to Cafe Rio this weekend. Any proxy requests?

That is a beautiful picture you've got there. Absolutely beautiful.

And, I think you're right. I'm pretty dang patriotic (check out my myspace.com if you don't believe me). But, man, the 4th of July just felt more wonderful last year when I was living in Washington, DC. FIREWORKS ON THE MALL RULE!

I don't know if those fireworks can compare to Taylorsville Dayzz. We didn't have a band, but we did have recorded music playing. A few of the pieces I really enjoyed while watching the fireworks had to be "This Kiss" by Faith Hill, and "A Whole New World" from Aladdin. I don't know what could be more patriotic.

I think I missed it already, didn't I? I heard the sad news that there was a halfish-posse reunion at the Bombay House, and I missed it. You could've at least met me in Bombay...
All I can say is, if you have not yet gone to Cafe Rio, ask for extra cilantro-lime vinaigrette for your salad on my behalf. And tell them I'm coming soon.

Confession: I didn't take that picture. I stole it off the internet. I know, I'm lame. My pictures were even more so, so I plagiarized. I can't even spell that word.

Don't you think Faith Hill simply epitomizes American goodness? And Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle? C'mon, it's true... and I gotta send you the non-acoustic version of Incubus. Really, it's awesome.

...I got extra cilantro on the salad my sister brought to the airport. Does that count? She had NEVER eaten a Cafe Rio salad before (thinking it wouldn't fill her up, all 93 pounds of her), but I converted her over the weekend. How many have you eaten now, Marinda?
